After releasing two pieces of shit, expectations are low for the next Slayer record.
There might be a chance the band’s new one — Slayer’s first without Jeff Hanneman and first with Exodus’ Gary Holt — is a big pile of steaming turds when it comes out later this year.
According to Kerry King, the very talkative guitarist for Slayer, he’d be “shocked” if fans of the band hate the new material.
“I don’t pay attention to anything on the Internet,” King tells Metal Hammer. “I don’t have any social media, because of that stupid horseshit. It’s just people spouting off. If those people could hear [the upcoming] record and say, ‘Man, it’s horseshit!’ then I’d be stunned. I’m very excited.”
Kerry’s excited. That’s nice.
Metal Hammer also spoke with bassist Tom Araya, who reacted to fans’ implications that Slayer’s current lineup isn’t “really Slayer.”
Araya said:
“We’ve tried to reassure them that they’re going to get Slayer…and that’s what they’re getting! The way social media is, it’s all instant, so the response will be immediate this time. It’ll be interesting to see what the first, initial reactions are. That all adds to the emotions I’m feeling this time round.”
Slayer’s next CD will be released this August.
